It was a busy day of hockey yesterday at the University of Ottawa Sports Complex. With six games on the schedule, plenty of players were looking to end their weekends on a positive note by securing a win for their respective teams.
Winterhawks (1) vs. Revolution (5)
In the first game of the day, Revolution jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked backed. Revolution player #17 Cody McDonald (2G) found the back of the net twice in the first period to lead the offensive charge. Marc Cere-Ozoux (2G) also added two goals to help his team defeat the Winterhawks 5-1.
Muggers (5) vs. Beer Downski’s (2)
In the next game of the day, it was the Muggers who were led by #91 Dan Grainger (3G). Grainger tallied three goals in the game including the game-winner. As for the Beer Downski’s, they saw a strong performance by both #17 Brendan Clark (1G, 1A) and #21 Chris Golden (1G, 1A).
Le Train (2) vs. Roughnecks (3)
In what ended up being one of the closest games of the day, Roughnecks #11 Martin Pichard (2G,1A) scored a late goal with only 1:27 remaining in the second period to defeat Le Train. Le Train player #10 Matt Hunt (2G) scored twice in the first period to keep his team in the game.
Blood Sweat and Beers (4) vs. Bears (3)
#27 Chadwick Westerman (3G, 1A) had a huge 4-point game on Sunday as Blood Sweat and Beers beat the Bears by a score of 4-3. Blood Sweat and Beers goalie Louis Fran was able to hold off a late rally by the Bears to keep his team in the lead and eventually take home the win.
Blaze (1) vs. Matrix (3)
It was all hands on deck for the Matrix as they needed three different goal scorers to defeat the Blaze 3-1. #15 Vince Fagnan (1G, 1A), #18 Vern Kempffer (1G) and #17 Greg Barber (1G) all found the back of the net throughout the game. Blaze player #33 Michael Moore (1G) was the lone goal-scorer for the Blaze when he scored midway through the second after receiving a pass from #12 Don Dodds (1A).
F-5 (1) vs. Muskies (2)
In the last game of a busy Sunday afternoon, both F-5 goalie Greg Fabris and Muskies goalie Taylor Mah came to play allowing only three goals between the two of them. The Muskies powerplay proved to be too strong scoring the game-winning goal less than 15 seconds into their only opportunity of the game. Muskies player #14 Kevin Rogers (1G) scored the powerplay goal which resulted in a 2-1 win for his team.
